Since 1969, The Glenbrook Native Plant Reserve and Nursery has been maintained by volunteers from the Australian Plants Society, Blue Mountains Group. Over 2,000 hours of volunteer work per annum preserves a valuable remnant of Lower Blue Mountains flora. A wide range of native plants for sale in the Nursery. It was sixty years ago when Christine Bundys Grandmother served the first traditional Devonshire Teas in Megalong Valley. Her Mother followed on in her footsteps and today Christine continues their legacy using their proven favourite recipes for fresh apple pies and scones still served with homemade blackberry jam and fresh cream. Over the years the menu has been extended to include country soups, chunky meat and vegetarian pies, sandwiches made daily in their kitchen plus hearty breakfasts until 11am. Local produce is used where possible including Megalong Beef. One change over the time is of course a cappuccino machine! Garry was born in Lithgow and began painting at the age of 10 and is self-taught. Since turning professional, in 1994 his career success has escalated, winning many awards, including Most Outstanding Traditional Landscape in the 2008 Sydney Royal Easter Show and People's Choice in Portland 2010. He has held 5 major solo exhibitions and is well on his way to reaching his goal of achieving high status amongst the best traditional artists in Australia. Garry is currently working as an owner builder on his house in South Bowenfels that will eventually hold a gallery. Until this is complete he continues to sell is works on-line and at various exhibitions. His paintings are oils on canvas or board and cover a wide range of subject matter including rural or scenic Australian subjects making them popular for display in collections throughout Australia and other parts of the world.
