Start your self-guided tour at the Hill End Heritage Centre, formerly the location of the Hill End RFS shed where information about activities and tours can be found.
Follow the historic information signs dotted throughout the town for a glimpse into what buildings were in the town in 1870’s. Hill Ends streetscapes and buildings remain mostly unchanged since the gold mining heyday, providing an authentic glimpse into the past.
Experience the life of a colonial gold miner on a guided underground tour. Bookings can be made at the Hill End and Tambaroora Family History and Local Information or try fossicking for gold at Tambaroora's Fossicking Area.
Stay in Historic Accommodation
Post Office Residence and Stables: Enjoy grand colonial charm with high ceilings and large windows overlooking the surrounding area at the Post Office with modern amenities. The Stables, booked separately, is a fully self-contained two-story cosy unit and perfect for unique stays.
Hosies: Step back in time at the once haberdashery and the largest of our accommodations. Hosie’s currently accommodates up to 12 guests, over 7 bedrooms blending history with comfort.
Pines Cottage: An 1800s wattle-and-daub 2-bedroom cottage, ideal for a peaceful, private getaway.
Northeys: A one-bedroom apartment in Hill End’s most iconic building.
Sydney Hotel Cottage: A two-bedroom retreat that once served as one of the town’s 27 hotels.
Fairfax House: A beautifully well-appointed and furnished 1800’s brick cottage in a secluded part of town with 2 bedrooms, a fire pit and great outdoor space.

Stroll around cottage-style gardens and admire historic avenues of Elm, Oak, Monterey pine, and London Plane trees. Explore the grounds of the Old Hospital and machinery shed and make use of the large open picnic area. Look for wallabies and kangaroos as you explore the village.
