Internationally renowned visual artist Janet Laurence continues her collaboration with the Lyrebird Festival, following the provocative installation of her Elixir Lab in an historic Megalong Valley shed.

Janet has curated a stunning film installation for the 2024 festival, featuring works from throughout her career. Guests will access the exhibition from the Megalong Valley Tea Rooms via a short (uneven) walk. Walking shoes recommended and bring an umbrella if there is a chance of rain.

The Megalong Tearooms will be open each day with a range of delicious food and beverages.

Janet Laurence is a leading Sydney-based artist who exhibits nationally and internationally. Her practice examines the physical, cultural and conflicting relationship to the natural world.

Adjunct Professor at the University of NSW Faculty of Art and Design, she has been the recipient of Rockefeller, Churchill and Australia Council fellowships and the Alumni Award for Arts, UNSW; was a visiting fellow of Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (HWK) Germany 2017; and Artist in residence at the Australian Museum.

Janet represented Australia at the COP21/FIAC, Artists 4 Paris Climate 2015 exhibition 21 and the Biocenosis 21 IUCN Marseilles. She was received the 2021 Antarctic Fellowship, completing her residency in 2022. Exhibitions include a major solo survey exhibition at the MCA in 2019, the Yu Hsui Museum of Art in Taiwan in 2020, and the Australian National Gallery in 2022.
