Enjoy an autumn walk through one of the Blue Mountains most picturesque villages. Hear stories of some of the people who have lived here and imagine what like used to be like. See some historic buildings, as well as the current shops which occupy these premises.
Meet outside Leura Station which was very important in the establishment of the village. Walk down the Mall with its delightful shops, many of great interest.
Here the story of the saving of the “Wayzgoose” Cafe. Look at several of its historic buildings, especially “The Ritz” which started life as the “Leura Coffee Palace” when it opened in 1892. It became a prominent part of local history in its days as a guest house, and has received State significance as a major hotel for three quarters of a century.
At the lower end of the Mall are a range of beautiful old houses and gardens. Visit the Lone Pine Gates and Memorials to the men of Leura who fought in World War 1, Walking though the gates, visit the Red Cross WW1 Memorial Rose Garden and the Lone Pine Peace Park memorial.
Hear the stories of the devastating bushfires of 1957 when a large part of both Leura and Wentworth Falls were destroyed.
Enjoy a devonshire tea at “Bygone Beauties” and be amazed at the display of teawares.
